Ear cleaning at urgent care or a primary care office is typically done using irrigation or rinsing alone — flushing water into the canal without direct visualization of what's happening inside. This approach can miss wax, push it deeper, or temporarily worsen symptoms. It's also not appropriate for patients with narrow ear canals, a history of eardrum perforations, or prior ear surgeries.
At Ear Bar, our ENT physicians and PAs use microscopy while removing wax through a combination of microsuction, micro-instrumentation, and irrigation — choosing the technique best suited to your ear anatomy. If there's an underlying infection, inflammation, or structural issue we discover during cleaning, we can help diagnose and treat.
